How do Biofuel emissions compare to petro-diesel emissions?
The use of Biofuel in a conventional diesel engine results in substantial reduction of unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulate matter. The exhaust emissions of sulfur oxides and sulfates (major components of acid rain) from Biofuel are essentially smaller compared to petrodiesel.

Can Biofuel help to reduce 'global warming'?
1998 Biofuel lifecycle study concluded that Biofuel reduces net CO2 emissions by 78 % compared to petroleum diesel due to Biofuel's closed carbon cycle. The CO2 exhausted when Biofuel is burned is partly recycled by growing plants.

Is Biofuel safer than petroleum diesel?
Research confirms that Biofuel exhaust has a less harmful impact on human health than petroleum diesel fuel. Biofuel emissions have decreased levels of cancer causing compounds. PAH compounds were reduced by 75% to 85%, and benzoanthracene was reduced by roughly 50%.

Are special storage facilities needed?
The standard storage and handling procedures used for petroleum diesel can be used for Biofuel. The fuel should be stored in a clean, dry, dark environment. Acceptable storage tank materials include aluminum, steel, fluorinated polyethylene, fluorinated polypropylene and Teflon™.

Can I use Biofuel in my existing home heating oil burner or diesel engine?

Biofuel can be operated in any diesel engine or home heating oil burner with little or no impact to the fuel system. Biofuel has a solvent effect, which may release deposits that have accumulated over time. In the beginning, it may be necessary to change the filters which may become clogged from these deposits.

Is Biofuel used as a pure fuel or is it blended with petroleum diesel?
Biofuel can be used as a pure fuel or blended with petroleum in any ratio.

Can Biofuel be used in any diesel motor?
All auto production models since production year 1996 are fully equipped and rated for Biofuel use. Mercedes Benz delivers Biofuel equipped cars upon request. For other cars, please check with the manufacturer.

Will the fuel consumption increase by using Biofuel?
No, fuel consumption wonít increase. In fact, youíll actually be reducing your consumption of petroleum diesel in direct proportion to the mix. If itís a 20/80 mix then youíll be burning 20% less petroleum diesel or home heating oil and thus extending our existing supply by that much.
